Nabirye Mariam lives in the main part of Bugiri Town in Eastern Uganda with her grandmother. Mariam’s mother was raped as a teen and that’s how Mariam was born, so the father was never known. The mother raised her until she was 2 then noticed she was not like other kids and left fer with the grandmother and moved on. The grandmother lives in a 6X6 room with a dirt floor that is low so when it rains the whole room floods. There are 5 other children in the room with Mariam that share a mat for sleeping on the wet, dirt floor. Because of this, Mariam is often so sick she can not move. We have found that her condition is cerebral palsy but with no medication or medical attention her life has been dim.

But Beyond Uganda has seen incredible improvement just with regular contact and nutritional food. With your support, Mariam will receive regular medication and visits from a doctor to not only monitor her condition but it is vital to have her in a safe and loving environment. Please consider investing in Mariam and partnering with Beyond Uganda in her future.
