The Loan Women Program was born out of seeing the need of the many women that were widowed, living with HIV, or simply living in poverty.\u00a0 We do not want to merely fix immediate needs and perpetuate the dependency on others that keep these women locked in poverty. \u00a0We want to partner with the local women to empower them and create opportunities for them to help themselves out of poverty.<\/span><\/p>\n

MICRO LOAN PROGRAM<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The micro loan program is a program that teaches women \u00a0life skills so she can be self sufficient for her family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How it works is an interest free loan of $50 is given to a woman that qualifies. \u00a0She is then placed into a community of other loan women where they learn different skills and new ways to run a business. \u00a0They pay the loan down in weekly payments and have to pay it back in six months.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GRACE SAVINGS PROGRAM<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n

After women have gone through the loan program they typically have money that they are not used to having. \u00a0We teach them how to to be good stewards of their money.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The women meet weekly with their community of other women involved in the program. \u00a0They are educated on savings basics and money management. \u00a0We also have lock boxes to store money since it is unsafe to keep money at home. \u00a0 These women also compile portions of their earnings into a general fund and help others with a larger purchase that normally would not be affordable.<\/strong>

TAILORING PROGRAM<\/strong><\/h1>\n

This program is similar to the micro loan program but it is specific for tailoring. \u00a0It gives a $100 sewing machine to a woman who qualifies. \u00a0They are then taught different techniques and skills along with being inserted into a community of other tailoring women.<\/h2>\n

This community is taught business practices, life skills, and financial management. \u00a0 The community compiles their money together and decides who the next sewing machine loan will go to.<\/h2>\n
