One of their daughters, on that trip, commented, “We can’t unsee what we have seen, and we need to go home and do something beyond Uganda”. A Brookings Institution Research Report tracked children born into generational poverty in any country around the world, including Uganda, and found a common outcome. To ensure sustainable, holistic care, each child has\u00a0<\/span>up to eight shared sponsorship opportunities<\/strong>\u00a0that together provide full support.<\/span><\/p>\n When all sponsorships are filled, a child is considered\u00a0<\/span>fully funded<\/strong>, meaning their daily needs\u2014such as education, food, medical care, and discipleship\u2014are met while also intentionally planning for their future development and stability. While this shared sponsorship model is less common, it is used by other small and mid-sized child-focused organizations and has proven to be both effective and deeply relational.<\/p>\n This approach allows multiple sponsors to invest together in the life of one child, often resulting in shared prayer, coordinated gifts, and greater collective impact. When choosing a gift, we kindly ask sponsors to keep in mind the cost of international shipping and the difference in economic context between Uganda and other countries.<\/p>\n We encourage\u00a0<\/span>simple, personal gifts<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>such as stickers, drawings, photos, and pictures that can be placed inside a letter. These items are easy to ship, deeply meaningful to children, and often treasured for years.<\/p>\n For safety and equity reasons, gifts should be\u00a0<\/span>small (no larger than a shoebox)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and not expensive. Larger or costly items can unintentionally place a child at risk of theft, harm, or unwanted attention.
