WHO WE ARE

OUR VISION

Our vision is to see lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ through intentional discipleship in education, vocation, and the local church. We long to see spiritually and physically healthy individuals and families who are contributing members of their local and global communities. Our ministry strives to partner with people, “offering a hand up, not a hand out” through resources and skills that provide care for their immediate needs, while also equipping them to learn the Biblical mandate of hard work and caring for our family members. We desire to see the LOVE, HOPE, and LIGHT of Jesus Christ overcome the brokenness, hopelessness, and darkness of poverty!

OUR MISSION

Beyond Uganda exists to bring the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in our local community and all over the world, specifically serving the lost and vulnerable populations in Uganda. We believe that the devastation of poverty and limited access to resources and opportunities are huge barriers to reaching people with the love of God. Therefore, we are dedicated to meeting the physical needs of people in order to ultimately meet their spiritual needs. This mission is accomplished through programs and projects that empower women, educate children, and restore families.

Our ministry focuses on the following areas: clean water, education, affordable living, and sustainable wages because these are vital necessities in order to break the cycle of generational poverty. Every effort to provide support in these areas is rooted in Biblical discipleship.

HOW WE STARTED

Established in 2011 as a response to children in crisis, we have evolved into multiple programs servicing Uganda’s most vulnerable population. We create programs that fall into one or more of the four pillars necessary to alleviate poverty: the opportunity for education, access to clean water and food, employment opportunity, and safe housing. Each program works to provide tangible opportunities for self-sustainability. We have four operating project sites in Uganda: Bugiri, Namayemba, Wakiso, and Makerere.

CORE VALUES

PASSION

We are men & women passionate about the call on our lives to serve others and live out the Gospel in the communities we serve and to inspire that same passion for living as a servant leader to others             (1 Corin. 10:31)

EXCELLENCE

The highest standard is to be strived for in all areas of those we serve. This same excellence is to be set as a goal in those we serve so that they see themselves this way and will strive for excellence in their own life. ( Col. 3:17)

INTEGRITY

We are people of integrity and do what we say and say what we do. We place the needs of the collective others before individual accomplishments. Our word is an opportunity to show the heart of God. (Titus 2:7)

DIGNITY

We believe that EVERY person should be treated with dignity and respect, as an image bearer of God, and as a result, will be compelled to treat others with the same respect.

(Gen. 1:26-27) (Matt. 7:12)

STATEMENT OF FAITH

“We love because He first loved us.” -1 John 4:19

Beyond Uganda is a Gospel-centered ministry that is committed to reflect the character and mission of God to sacrificially love people through discipleship and service. As disciples of Jesus Christ who have been saved and forever changed, we long for people to see our acts of ministry as reflections of His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. We give, serve, and minister as an act of worship to our Heavenly Father and to make His name known. (Matt. 28:19-20, Matt. 25:40)

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God, completely true and without error, testifies of Jesus Christ, and is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, in order for the people of God to be complete and equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

We believe that there is only one living and true God. He is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

We believe that people are God’s special creation, made in His own image, and are therefore worthy of dignity and respect. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Only the grace of God can bring people into fellowship with Him and enable people to fulfill the creative purposes of God.

We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as LORD.

We believe it is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. (Matt. 28:19-20)
