OUR SOLUTION
COMMUNITY WATER INTEGRATION SYSTEMS
Historically, in Uganda, many wells have been dug by the government and organizations but they quickly run dry or collapse and the community is in the same situation they were before. This has led us to not just dig a well but to work with the community chosen for a Sustainable Community Water Integration System. This process usually takes 3-4 months and requires at least 4-5 community visits.
Community Site Visit to determine if the community is in need and ready for a well
Meet with community leaders to have a piece of land donated for the well for a partnership on the project. We take the time to train the community on clean water collection and storage.
Meet with the community and leaders to develop a Local Well Committee that will protect the use of the well and maintain it in case of need of repair. Further, train the community on proper hygiene and sanitation.
Oversee the crew digging and installing the well process and report back expenses and pictures.
Lastly, we meet with the entire community, crew, and our staff to dedicate the well and have a handover ceremony for that community to take ownership of the well.
PROVIDE A WATER FILTER
Join our partnership with trusted water-focused organizations to provide an in-home water filter that provides clean water for up to 10 years!
This filter removes all bacteria, protozoa, and microorganisms from contaminated water sources, making the water completely safe to drink.
CLEAN WATER CHANGES LIVES
Relief from diseases like typhoid and cholera that cause so much suffering, illness, and death.
Saves very limited, precious financial resources that are used for medical care and drugs to treat these waterborne illnesses. Most of our families live on less than $5 per day, so the savings on medical treatment is significant.
Decreases spending on charcoal to boil water. In fact, 20% of household income is used for purchasing coal to purify drinking water, but a TivaWater filter frees up funds for other needed expenses, day after day.
Long-term, sustainable drinking water solution that lasts for years. Tons of charcoal is burned every day for drinking water in countries around the world, creating tremendous amounts of air pollution and respiratory illness. A filter replaces the need for burning charcoal and prevents the deforestation of thousands of acres of land.
